Google Turns Telstra NumptyLand Into AndroidLand.

Many years ago Telstra really thought they were 'all that' (and a bag of xxxl potato chips). They believed Sensis, their woeful search engine, (now in 2011 powered by Google. Ah sweet irony.) was what Australian's wanted. Sensis was better, faster, and that Android was to just be ignored.

They then put all their eggs in the iOs/Apple basket, and as usual, another not so smart move by the monopolistic giant.

The (then) CEO quipped;

 Google Schmoogle

&

We’re outgrowing Google in Australia. We’re doing more, we’re growing faster and we have more capability, because we’re more relevant.

Taxi for Telstra CEO please...

So nice to finally see Telstra has rebranded, removed (some of) the arrogance, grown up, wised up, and told the latest CEO to shut up. Finally realising that if you want to get anywhere in this world that listening and collaboration, along with offering customer choice, is the only way forward... Someone at least has now empolyed a brain cell, and the often vastly customer devoid Telstra flagship Australian store, is now partially overtaken as the world's first Android store, called 'AndroidLand' in right here in Melbourne;

2012 is going to be a little bit greener.

Photos - Adelaide. Underrated, Chilled, and packing some awesome wine.

Tracey and I took a short trip in September 2010 to Adelaide for our Anniversary. Only now just getting round to sorting photos, but over five days we went around several wineries (hic), ate out around the many excellent places in the city centre, and m'lady got to go to the the zoo to see Pandas. Adelaide is a great place, and still amongst the top ten cities in the world for quality of living, with some great shops and restaurants, and is definetly a five out of ten on the busy scale when compared to Melbournes mental eleven out of ten.

Don't let that put you off, a more relaxed pace is just what were after at the time, and Adelaide really is a great place to chill out, take your time and savour that wine : P

Wiki leaks, the movie; 'The Outsider'

Nice mash up of 'The Insider' with man of the moment, Julian Assange.

Truth is, if we get a facebook movie, bound to be a real movie one day!
Cheers to Gerry M for the find.

Photos - Christmas in July

In Melbourne mid winter, when it’s supposed to be cold ( I still cant get over mid ‘winter’ being a very nice sunny 16°!) many people not native to Australia celebrate Christmas in July. Many bars and restaurants run Christmas specials on the 25th July, and since we arrived in Melbourne, the great group of friends we have, always made a point of celebrating it.

This year started off with some ice skating at Melbourne Icehouse, followed on by Christmas lunch at the Metropolitan hotel in North Melbourne, then back to ours for more.

Cue a really devious version of Secret Santa, cocktails, and yet more food, and, well... I’m knackered.

Great peeps, great day, some daft photos below. And with the next Christmas six months away, it really does feel like Christmas gets closer every year : )

Tim Burton; The Exhibition. Melbourne ACMI. Ditch yer camera...

So last Saturday so a crowd of us headed to the above, and despite being torn away form the warmth, other friends and alcohol, we entered in to the unique world of one Mr. Tim Burton. Talented beyond belief, this man covers every base of creativity I have ever known; from acting, writing, pencil drawings, paint, acrylics, cartoons, theatre and movie work, puppetry, scripts, directing, producing, designing, and on and on...

(download)
Well worth going to see, it's sadly spoiled by having no photography allowed (copyright madness again-sigh) and one factor that is not really this show's fault... It's flippin' jam packed with other people!

Make sure you go on a quiet week morning or lunchtime, as we literally had to queue to see the majority of work, and to get in. And it's that good you'll want to really get to look at all the work.The ACMI and MOMA in New York where this just came from, and who presents the exhibition, have done an awesome job with the whole of the ACMI decked out in Burton-esque features inside and out, along with one Batmobile parked inside : )

Russell Kane @ Melbourne comedy festival

Another show at the Melbourne comedy festival tonight, this time went to see Russell Kane at the Melbourne Town Hall. There were tears all round, and maybe just a little bit of pee from some. Russell delivers a part psychology lesson it seems, as he rips apart relationships and exposes them as we all probably should see them, honestly and openly. Hilarious but also insightful stuff. A good example below of what he delivers...

To celebrate our wedding anniversary, the day we met, and the day that we came to Australia, Tracey and I took an early morning Balloon ride across Melbourne. Followed up by a Champagne breakfast and cupcakes of all things, an awesome day. Click on the slideshow below or this posts title to view the album.

Photos - Queen Vic Market, Melbourne

Over 130 years old, Melbourne's Queen Victoria Market has been a cemetery, a livestock and a wholesale fruit and vegetable market. During the summer the market turns into one huge bar, with music and food from all around the globe showcasing Melbourne's diverse culture.

Were very fortunate to have this mammoth selection of fine food and entertainment on our doorstep, so always wanted to share some images of what it's like within. Click on the slideshow below or this posts title to view the album, or find out more about it's history and see some amazing old photos of it's development.
