Like an ever growing bad meme, Facebook bought tagtile last week, which got buried under Instagram-gate...
Very interesting, but can see facebook ditching the meatspace tile cube in stores quickly.

Sarcastic yes, but a sizeable chunk of users it seems are not too happy about 'farcebook' spending (in best Dr. Evil I can) 1 Billion dollars to buy out the oh so cool polaroid stylee app.
The same whiners who in droves complained bitterly about Android stealing their cool and who were desperate to keep it elite (if you call a worldwide mobile app elite, and many do).
Still hipsters aside, bloody well done for Kevin Systrom and his small team at Instagram who now no longer need to worry where the next cheque is coming from.
So what happens to the app? Cynically we could have pokes, farmville and privacy options becoming hidden and cryptic, but Zuckerberg says no changes for now.
Why? To preserve Instagrams cool status, but is too late? Could it be like Yahoo was to the then oh so cool flickr, which is barley luke warm at best these days?
Time will tell but expect deeper integration with facebook and it's main mobile app quicker than you can sell your stock on farmville or poke your pal. 1 billion dollars spent needs return on investment, and you can bet they want a return with that price tag...
Apparently some employers are asking for access to people’s Facebook profiles or private information? WTF? Passwords, really? You never give passwords to anyone, unless y'know you have a gun to your head, at which point it may be wise to share your farmville collection & drunken snaps toot suite.
Personally I have nothing on my page I'd be too bothered to be seen publicly and at one time always shared all. (And I would have continued had facebook not wanted to continue to ensure privacy is as sneakily complicated and made more for advertisers as it can get.)
However, some good advice arrives of all places from....facebook. The social giant's Chief privacy officer on Friday made it violation of thier terms to be asked to do this by an employer or anyone else.
I'm sure they are doing this to cull any negativity towards their brand that may spill out due to effects on not doing this, but in a positive side effect for all of us, this actually helps fight some HR douchebaggery somewhere wherever someone was asked.
Perhaps if you are asked, ask first if the person is also willing to share their account 1st : )
A cool little site letting you pick your social button. Click the image to fight!
I've not had as much time as I would have liked to dive deeper in to Google + over the past week, but every day it just keeps getting better. Maybe it's the smaller crowd, maybe it's the G+ geeks like myself, but this service IS your social network. Not Farcebook's ad ridden, group adding, farmville, face tagging tosh version of your social network.
Well in truth I'm sure all the ads and games and other items will sadly come along at some point, but until the + on!
I got check in fatigue last year, not really a surprise when business uptake outside of the USA is low and benefits and incentives are nothing more than spamming facebook and twitter. Still room for something cool in this space though...
All great if you don't mind facebook, and just upload happy snaps to the site. However if you choose to close up shop and you try and get them out their walled garden if it all goes tits up in the future... good luck!
Certainly facebook has a poor track record of getting anything OUT of it's site so far, but many will likely not care. And with so many images anyway, were never going to get to see them all anyway, are we? I mean who is going to want to see those snaps of that night...y'know, the one the nun and the donkey brought the mayonnaise round?
I'll just keep mine on Picasa & flickr thanks Mr. Zuckerberg : )
No words needed...
This is only one snippet. Make sure you read the full post by the fab Oatmeal.
