Charlie Brooker on how to prevent more riots & standing up for social media...

In the smouldering aftermath, some politicians, keen to shift the focus from social inequality, have muttered darkly about the role of BlackBerry Messenger, Twitter and Facebook – frightening new technologies that, like the pen and the human mouth, allow citizens to swap messages with one another.

As usual, sharp wit and crystal clear observation from Charlie. Particularly liked the quite above and his observation on social media and the politician's knee jerk reaction that (shock!) people used twitter to communicate the riots and thus let's ban everything.

A sad day.

Caught singing for Gaddafi? 50 Ways To Libya Lover...

Media_httpstaticguimc_horfb

Charlie Brooker on form as usual socking it to pop stars that have grown a conscience when 'realising' (ahem...read exposed) that the large fee they were paid, was to perform for Resident Libyan Loon Gadaffi...

Loved this line of biting wit;

Libya would be a good growth market for Beyoncé, incidentally, as, thanks to the Gaddafi regime, it now contains far more Single Ladies than it used to.

Apple. Like being on Valium

Charlie Brooker, writes an exceptionally good (and on the money) take on iTunes and makes my post on the same subject timely, but paling in comparison when you add Charlies wit;

Apple's "sync" bullshit is a deception, which pretends to be making your life easier, when it's actually all about wresting control from you. If you could freely transfer any file you wanted onto your gadget, Apple might conceivably lose out on a few molecules of gold. So rather than risk that, they'll choose – every single time – to restrict your options, without so much as blinking.

I do particularly like;

Apple continually attempts to scrape even more money from anything that might conceivably pass through iTunes' tight, leathery anus.

Read the full article of what is in my mind the most accurate, sarcastic take on Apple I have read in years, from one of my most favourite writers.

Burgertime! A must read from the mind of Charlie Brooker.

Media_httpstaticguimc_hccbf

Charlie Brooker writes a biting piece (no pun intended) on the fast food industry in the UK. Well worth reading, Charlie's key part that got me hooked (as if I needed to be) was this corker:

I sat in the window of a McDonald's tucking into a sausage-and-egg McMuffin. It was a bit like sinking my teeth into a small, soft woodland creature with a light dusting of flour; one which thoroughly enjoyed being eaten and responded to each bite by gently urinating warm oil down my chin.

Mmm...Burger time!
